These people are sometimes left with repair bills in the thousands of dollars, if they even get back a car that’s working in the first place. Hyundai and Kia owners have gotten cars back that have been ransacked, crashed, or destroyed. The thefts are a major headache for everyone involved. Recent reports out of Milwaukee show a slight decline in thefts in 2022, but an average of six Hyundai and Kia vehicles are still stolen every day in the city. Unfortunately, word has spread outside of Milwaukee, and thefts have seen a sharp rise all over the country from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Chicago, Illinois, and all of the way to Los Angeles, California. These thieves often call themselves the Kia Boyz, and it’s been horrifying to be able to watch car theft get turned into a social media sensation. The alleged thieves of these vehicles have been posting videos of their actions (and even tutorials) all over social media from YouTube to TikTok. As a result, two-thirds of the vehicles stolen in the Milwaukee in 2021 were Kias and Hyundais. Why did the number of stolen vehicles double in just a year? Thieves, some as young as teenagers, figured out that certain Hyundai and Kia models could be stolen rather quickly. That number is up from 2020’s statistic of 4,500 thefts. According to a new report, Hyundai now has a fix that will hopefully stop or at least slow down these thefts. Thieves have discovered that a number of Hyundais and Kias could be stolen in a minute or less, sometimes using nothing more than brute force and a USB cable. Apart from EVs, Hyundai is also planning to launch the mid-life refreshed versions of the Venue and the Creta as well as the new-gen Hyundai Tucson in the near future.One of the biggest, perhaps weirdest bit of news this year is that some people can’t stop stealing Hyundai and Kia vehicles. It already has the Kona EV on sale in India and is looking to bring a mass market EV to rival the likes of Tata Nexon EV by 2024. Hyundai has stated that it plans on bringing six EVs in its Indian lineup by 2028. Hyundai i20: A more premium hatchback offering from Hyundai, the i20 is known for its styling and features. Hyundai i10: One of the best compact hatchbacks from Hyundai. Hyundai Santro: One of the longest running and popular hatchbacks in the country. Hyundai Verna: Hyundai stepped up the game for Indian sedans with the launch of the Verna in 2006. Hyundai Creta: Introduced in 2014, the Creta disrupted the compact SUV segment and quickly became one of the best selling cars in the country. Hyundai’s top products in India have been: Sedan: Hyundai currently has three sedan offerings for the Indian market the sub-4 metre Hyundai Aura, the Hyundai Verna and the Hyundai Elantra. It rivals the likes of Tata Safari as well as the Mahindra XUV700. It also offers the Creta-based Hyundai Alcazar SUV available in 6 or 7 seater configurations. Mid-size SUV: Hyundai offers the Tucson as a 5-seater mid-size SUV that goes head to head with the likes of the Jeep Compass. It faces stiff competition from rivals like the Kia Seltos, MG Astor, and the Volkswagen Taigun. It goes up against the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Kia Sonet.Ĭompact SUV: Hyundai has one of the best selling compact SUVs in its portfolio - the Hyundai Creta.
